The Bim Cheer Federation (BCF) was founded in February 2025 to provide active leadership and governance for cheerleading in Barbados, formally replacing the role of the previously inactive Barbados Cheerleading Federation. Its establishment marked a decisive step toward rebuilding and modernizing the sport through structured development, safety standards, and international alignment.
Since 2025, BCF has revitalized the national cheer landscape by hosting international coaches, delivering technical workshops and clinics, organizing national competitions and showcases, and re-establishing the majority of core cheerleading programs across schools and clubs. The Federation currently supports over 300 registered member athletes and 20 registered member coaches, reflecting rapid growth and renewed confidence in the sport.
BCF is now focused on expanding cheerleading access beyond traditional programs by establishing new teams within community centres, strengthening grassroots development and ensuring sustainable pathways for athletes across Barbados.
The Bim Cheer Federation (BCF) is the officially recognized national governing body for the sport of cheerleading in Barbados. Incorporated as a non-profit organization, BCF exists to regulate, develop, and elevate cheerleading across the island while creating structured pathways for athletes, coaches, and officials to compete, train, and represent Barbados at the highest local, regional, and international levels.
BCF is dedicated to transforming cheerleading into a sustainable, respected, and nationally recognized sport—one that promotes athletic excellence, discipline, leadership, and positive youth development.
The Federation operates in alignment with international cheerleading standards and best practices, working toward full integration with global cheer structures such as the International Cheer Union (ICU) and collaboration with national sporting authorities. Through this alignment, BCF ensures that Barbadian athletes and coaches have access to internationally recognized rules, certifications, competitions, and development opportunities.
As the national federation, BCF is responsible for:
Establishing standardized rules, divisions, and safety protocols
Hosting sanctioned national competitions and showcases
Developing coaching education and certification pathways
Selecting and preparing national teams for international competition
Advocating for cheerleading within governmental and sporting institutions
The mission of the Bim Cheer Federation is to develop cheerleading as a high-performance sport and a tool for youth empowerment, providing safe, inclusive, and structured opportunities for athletes of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
BCF believes cheerleading is more than performance—it is a discipline that builds confidence, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and leadership. The Federation is committed to ensuring that athletes are trained correctly, protected properly, and given opportunities to grow both on and off the mat.
BCF places strong emphasis on education and long-term athlete development. Through national training programs, workshops, camps, and credentialing systems, the Federation supports:
Grassroots and school-based cheer programs
Club and All-Star team development
Coach education and continuous professional development
Athlete progression from beginner to elite and national team levels
The Federation actively works to raise technical standards in stunting, tumbling, performance quality, and athlete safety, while also prioritizing mental wellness, sportsmanship, and ethical leadership.
The Bim Cheer Federation is the organizer and sanctioning authority for major national events, including:
Barbados National Cheerleading Championships
Cheermas Showcase
National camps, clinics, and skills intensives
BCF also leads Barbados’ participation in international competitions and is strategically positioning the island as a future regional hub for cheerleading and sports tourism, with plans to attract Caribbean, Latin American, and North American teams to Barbadian events.
At its core, BCF is driven by the belief that cheerleading can positively shape lives. The Federation actively supports youth development, female leadership, community engagement, and access to sport—particularly for young people who may lack structure, mentorship, or opportunity.
BCF’s long-term vision is to:
Establish cheerleading as a fully recognized national sport in Barbados
Create sustainable career pathways for coaches, judges, and administrators
Build competitive national teams capable of succeeding on the world stage
Position Barbados as a respected leader in Caribbean cheerleading
The Bim Cheer Federation is committed to integrity, transparency, athlete welfare, and excellence. Through collaboration with schools, clubs, parents, sponsors, and national stakeholders, BCF continues to build a unified cheerleading community—one team, one standard, one vision.
